Little Kwara Camp

Lodge style Small place, great memories

Blend in with nature

As an intimate tented camp, Little Kwara is situated on the private Kwara Concession adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve on the northern edge of the Okavango Delta. Hidden amongst the trees on an island, the camp reflects the diversity of the environment where both land and water activities are available year round. Expect personal, tailor-made guiding, off-road safari trips, clean comfortable rooms, stunning views, sundowners at sunset, excellent food (how about Shepherd’s pie topped with filo pastry?), wildlife roaming under your tent at night and dazzling boat trips. Get to know your guide over dinner, as the management likes to mix with guests and staff. Not only will you mingle with the them, the Okavango Delta safari experience is an eclectic mix in every way: step in the canoe for water sightseeing, make new discoveries with every step of your safari walk, watch predators during a game drive or grab your fishing gear and catch something for dinner. It’s all in the mix.

There are five large tented suites, tastefully designed, simply furnished and raised on individual wooden platforms. Enter your room, pick up the handwritten welcome-note and flop down on a king size bed (hot water bottles are provided for chilly nights). The tents are en-suite with a separate bath and outside shower. Let an African breeze drift in as you open the large wooden sliding doors (lined only with mosquito gauze to maximise the views) to a shaded private verandah with comfy chairs to soak up the spectacular surroundings. The canvas central area has a lounge and bar, stocked with your favorite drinks. There is an adjacent large dining area, which is open-sided and boasts incredible views – so start your day with an order of ‘one beautiful sunrise’ and homemade muffins, cereal, fresh fruit or nutritious oatmeal on the side. After the first Okavango Delta safari activity in the morning, your only task is to decide if you want your eggs sunny-side up or over easy for brunch. During the hottest time of the day, it is highly recommended to kick back, take a siesta or a plunge in the pool. Nights are for flame watching around the fire pit, while your guide points out the stars you usually don’t see in our light polluted skies.

Activities at Little Kwara Camp

Little Kwara offers a range of year-round Okavango Delta safari activities including walks, game drives, fishing (excluding January and February), boat cruises and Mokoro trips. A guide and tracker team is available to enhance these experiences by telling you everything about the local wildlife: from reptiles to nocturnals, and predators to birdlife. Find yourself learning about instead of simply watching the wildlife, since wildlife so densely populates the area. Lions, genet, cheetah, chameleon, black mamba, elephants, giraffe, impala, zebra, wildebeest, packs of wild dogs hunting – you might cross them all off your bucket list. Although the animals are calm around vehicles, don’t forget to schedule a safari walk, where you will feel more levelled with animal life. Blend in a great cocktail in the bush at sunset, a tasteful dinner, shared stories with other guests, a glass of fruity African wine and there you have it: the perfect mix.

Tripadvisor comments Little Kwara Camp

This is a truly magical place to stay. The Safari experience part outstanding, the staff we're incredible and the food very decent. Also the location in the Okavango is great, best of all you can't use your phone so you really get away from it all! Would come back in a heartbeat.

We stayed there for 3 nights at the end of May. Everything was great, from welcome after short flight from Lagoon to the goodbyes 3 days later. Staff, management, guide and trackers - all great. We loved the small character and the family feel. Food and safaris were fabulous. As Charles said - when I get back I will see my Friends.
